Certification
ACC Workplace Safety Management Practices
This programme ensures comprehensive health and safety systems. It includes the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and the AS NZS 4801:2001 standard.
Rooney Group is certified at a tertiary level, the highest audit standard. This ensures workplace safety is well-established and a framework for continual improvements is in place.
AS NZS 4801:2001 Certified Health and Safety Management
This certification ensures internationally accepted standards of best practice for health and safety management are maintained in an environment where the benchmark is continually increasing.
As a holder of the certification, Rooney Group has undertaken a rigorous analysis of all hazards and implemented a programme for the continual improvement of health and safety management.
Our Health + Safety Management
Management's Commitment
Rooney Group management have developed and continue to maintain a Health and Safety Management System to:
- Set health and safety objectives and performance criteria for all work areas.
- Review health and safety objectives and performance annually.
- Actively encourage the accurate and timely reporting and recording of all accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions.
- Investigate all reported accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions, to ensure all contributing factors are identified and, where appropriate, plans are formulated to take corrective action.
- Actively encourage the early reporting of any pain or discomfort.
- Participate in rehabilitation of employees to ensure an early and safe return to work.
- Identify all existing and new hazards and take all practicable steps to eliminate, isolate or minimise the exposure to any hazards.
- Ensure that all employees are made aware of the hazards in their work area and are adequately trained to enable them to perform their duties in a safe manner.
- Encourage employee consultation and participation in all matters relating to health and safety.
- Promote a system of continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
- Meet our obligations under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995 and the Health and Safety in Employment (amendment) Act 2002, Codes of
- Practices and any relevant Standards or Guidelines.
- Commit to training senior managers in health and safety.

- Taking responsibility for the health and safety of employees working under their direction.
- Observing all safe work procedures, rules and instructions.
- Reporting of any pain or discomfort early.
- Taking an active role in the company's treatment and rehabilitation plan, to ensure an early and safe return to work.
- Ensuring that all accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions are reported to the appropriate person.
Health and Safety Committee
This committee is made up of senior management and employees, and is responsible for the implementation, monitoring and review of the company's Health and Safety Policy and Management System.
