Rooney Group is a leading New Zealand civil contractor. We offer a range of services including in earthmoving, civil construction, pipe and cable laying, drilling, cartage and transportation.
Background
Founded by Gary Rooney in 1970, Rooney Group began as a small earthmoving business with a single bulldozer in Waimate, South Canterbury. Over the last 38 years Gary has grown this business upon strong principles of trust, reliability and customer satisfactions.
Rooney Group Today
Today Rooney Group has separate companies for earthmoving, boring and holdings, employing over 250 staff at branches in Waimate, Ashburton, Christchurch, Timaru and Oamaru. While it has grown in size, the company remains 100% locally owned by Gary and his wife Adrienne.
Although Gary remains a hands on managing director, he now relies on a skilled and experienced team of managers, engineers and operators. Along with extensive equipment and internationally certified systems for quality, safety and environmental management, Rooney Group consistently completes projects ranging in size and complexity, on time and within budget.
